More Beadwoven Goodies!

Has it been three months since I last posted?  Really?!!!!  Wow, well there's a lot to catch up on!

Here's a few of my new creations:

1.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/166865915/asymmetrical-bracelet-beaded-turquoise?

The bracelet above was inspired by the new two-hole twin beads (the ones in turquoise and gold/coppery tones).  I had to see what I could do with them.  So after a little playing around, this bracelet emerged!  The main part is all beadwoven.  The toggle was a portion of a viking knit necklace I had made, and I hammered and wire wrapped the circular part to compliment the beadwoven section of the bracelet.  (I can't help but think that it looks like a fun little ferris wheel!  :-D)  I finished it up with my own hand-stamped tag with my logo.  But if you'd like to personalize it with your own tag, you can - for yourself or as a gift!  This asymmetrical, rustic, bracelet is great for every-day wear or even something a touch more fancy!

2.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/167943762/galaxy-earrings-beadwoven-in-blue-brown?

These fun earrings, I like to call my Galaxy Earrings, have been entered into Etsy Beadweaver's Challenge for December.  So if you'd like to look at all the entries, go to this link between December 9 - 15, 2013:  http://etsy-beadweavers.blogspot.com/.  I'm sure you're going to see lot's of beaded beauties!  These earrings feature a focal bead made of ceramic.  I loved the swirling colors of the beads - and that's where the name from - it's like a swirling galaxy.  I suspended them from a copper chain and and my own hand formed and hammered ear wires.  The fun part was the beaded fringe that radiates from the bottom in shimmering blues!  So much fun!  These would be great with jeans!!!

3.

This Celtic Princess necklace was inspired by the tiny, organic looking cube beads, and two holed lentil beads I had just gotten.  Then I also saw a movie where the actress was wearing a very striking necklace that had this basic shape.  So I created the viking knit cord and attached it to the beaded portion with includes a large Swarovski Crystal!   The golden hued, mottled texture of the beads reminds me of a mosaic, and exudes old-world charm!  This one-of-a-kind necklace can be personalized with your monogram too!  Just check out the listing in my shop (link above)!     And that brings me to number four.

4.  The necklace just had to have earrings!  So I created a similar shape with the beads, added a small crystal, and 14-karat gold-plated chain and french hooks to create these matching earrings!

It's been fun creating these pieces!  I hope you find some inspiration here as well!  Also, don't forget to follow me on my facebook page (www.facebook.com/TerahsClassicCreationsStudio) to keep up with SALES and to get up-to-the-moment insider information!  Yes, there may just be a sale going right now!  :-)

Have fun!!!!

Make it Personal!!!!

Make it personal!!!!  That's what always makes the best gifts.  It's perfect because lately I've been honing a new technique - stamping.  Again, my sister's wedding gave me great opportunities to try this one out - little keychains with their names & dates - it was a lot of fun.

The beauty of stamping is ultimate personalization!  I can stamp someone's name on a tag, a message, a monogram, a date - whatever!  (Of course depending on how big the metal tag is.) Right now I offer tags in my shop as an add-on to my jewelry.  The small tags don't take away from the beauty of the jewelry, but add to that special gift by adding the recipient's initials (monogram).  This could branch out into keychains, pendants, wine tags, favor tags, etc.  The possibilities are limitless!!!!!

So here is an example of one of my stamping experiments:

The following picture is of one of the latest additions to my shop.  The metal tags on the earrings are left blank so you can personalize it with your monogram, a name, or a short message!!!  Wouldn't this be a great bridesmaid's gift?

But here's the latest jewelry addition:

It has my hand-stamped label on it, but you can have your own initials stamped on it instead!!!

Have fun!!!

Sincerely,

Terah

Metal Mania

I have been off on a metal adventure!  This was actually accentuated by my sister's wedding.  She surprised me by asking me if I'd be willing to make the bridesmaid's bracelets.  I was really happy she asked me to make them!!  She had a pretty specific design in mind that involved just beads and metal.  So of course, that set me off in that direction.  I had fun making them!  It pushed me to do something "out-of-the-box" so to speak.  At least out of my box - which is always good.  My sister loves green and fall tones, so I ended up making these bracelets:

I love the open, free-flowing designs of these bracelets - there's not a two that are exactly alike.  That's the beauty of it!  Each one is unique!

On top of all that I've been learning more wire-wrapping techniques.  So here's a sampling of what you will probably see more of in my shop in the future:

As always, I'm continually adding new designs & techniques!  I've also recently bought a bunch of new beautiful supplies that are just waiting to become jewelry!  So, to keep up on the latest additions to my shop, feel free to add my shop to your favorites!!

Until next time . . . .

Have fun!

Sincerely,

Terah :-)

Evolution of an Earring

These little black and gold earrings are a whim of a creation one night.

I thought they were nice.  But here is where I learned that the opinion of a friend is priceless.  With this little addition, these earrings went from classic and nice to stand-out.  Thanks for the in-put Katie!  SOLD

Liquid Gold Earrings

Who doesn't love the glitter of gold?  I recently found in my stash these little light-colored bugles - just big enough to get a needle into, but that's it.  They're a nice light golden color, not too harsh.  And of course, I went into my favorite stitch, herringbone.  When woven together they reminded me of liquid gold spun into a twirling rope.

I paired them with these warm pink, top-drilled pearls to add a dangle to the center, creating truly "Classic" earrings that can go from the office to the party that night!

Sentimental Journey

Recently some friends of mine lost a close family member in death.  A beloved mother and grandmother.  She was in her late 90's, contributed greatly to the community, and will be sorely missed by many.  My heart goes out to them.

A few weeks ago I was given a necklace that her daughter received from her.  She asked me to use the beads to make her some jewelry with it.  I was excited but a little daunted by the fact that this was from her mother.  I forged ahead.

I wish I would have taken some pictures of the necklace before I changed it.  It was a short, simple two-strand necklace with all red beads.  Very pretty.  However, the length needed to be changed a bit for her daughter to wear more frequently, and she requested matching clip-on earrings as well.  Here are the end results - a necklace, earrings, and bracelet. . . .

Something Simple

Every once in a while it's nice to make something that doesn't take me days to create.  It kind of changes things up a bit.  So I broke out some of my shells and pearls and did some stringing with them.

This is what I came up with.  The name of it is the Coral Shell & Pearl Bracelet.  I also made some matching earrings.  The whole set will be off to Studio 12 Urban Day Spa in Modesto!

This is also to show everyone how I'm packaging my jewelry right now.  Since each piece I make is different, I make a custom card for each piece.  Bigger things like necklaces will come in boxes.  What do you think?  Any more packaging ideas out there?

Classic Teardrop Earrings

I call these my Classic Teardrop Earrings because this is an earring design that I just keep coming back to.  I also used it in the earrings that go with the Hanging Garden Necklace (click on link to see older blog post).  There's something enduring in this design - you can wear it to the office AND out for a special evening!  This time it has a more bold yet classy feel with the red, silver, and white.  (I seem to be drawn to that color-scheme lately.  I'm working on a few other projects that also have the same color scheme.  I will be posting them soon, so stay tuned!)

The earring wires are sterling plated, and the body of the earring contains Delicas, and crystal rondelles.  I will be adding these to my new Etsy shop very soon!!!  Take a look!  The address is: terahclassycreations.etsy.com.  (At the time of this posting I don't have anything in my shop yet, but I would love some feed-back about it!)  **SOLD**

Hanging Gardens

This set captures the feel of a summer garden full blooms and vines! It was so much fun to create! It started with the flower - a project showcased in one of my favorite beading magazines. From there the design gradually unfolded. I went to the local Gem Faire in Turlock and found some beautiful tourmaline rondelles (The colors that naturally occur in this stone - a gradual change from mauve to green -just happened to match perfectly!) Then I found the cubic zirconia briolette that is at the bottom of the necklace. From there it just happened. The pearls and garnets just seemed to want to "drip" off the necklace. The floral toggle-style clasp is off-center in front - another escapade in asymmetrical design! (The french hooks on the earrings are gold-plated.) Perfect for a Garden Wedding!! **AVAILABLE**

Lantern Earrings

These earrings were inspired (like the Banana-Rama earrings) by Diane Fitzgerald's book Shaped Beadwork.  They are worked in peyote and strung with garnet chips.  The color of the delicas I used to weave this project are a really nice metallic neutral which would go well with many different colors.  These are a nice departure from your everyday earrings, but still good for the office!  AVAILABLE.

Waterlilly

This set started with a rare, vintage swarovksi crystal I found at my local bead shop! (I love the way the cut of the crystal looks like the surface of a still pond - like there's some mystery hiding at the bottom.) I bezeled it with gold-plated delicas. From there, it "grew" leaves and became the slightly assymetrical necklace you see here. The dangles are fresh-water pearls in olivine and purple to set off the colors reflected in the center crystal. The gold-colored elements in the necklace and the earrings are all gold-plated. The bluish-purples and greens of this piece remind me of Monet's Waterlillies. **Available**

Banana-Rama :-)

I was going for an art-deco look inspired after the fabric you see here. But when I finished, I realized how much these earrings looked like a stylized pair of hanging bananas! Oh well, these earrings were really a lot of fun to make and still make me happy just to look at them. The french hooks are sterling plated, but the body of the work is mostly made of Delicas. (If you are wondering about the inspiration for the design, look at the book Shaped Beadwork by Diane Fitzgerald. It's really good.)

Princessa

This design is a more down-to-earth variation on a design by Lisa Kan. I used chocolate colored charlottes to weave the main part of the neclace, and the loops are decorated with fire-polished rondelles, swarovski crystals, garnet briolettes and pink glass drops. This necklace is princess length and sits just about at the collar-bone. The french hooks on the earrings and box clasp on the necklace are gold plated. Wearing this makes you feel like a princess. **AVAILABLE**

Pacific Peacock

This necklace started with the metal feather piece (which actually doubles as the clasp). When I found this piece, the rest of it fell together. I love the bold statement made by using the large peacock-blue shells, and swarovski crystals combined with the asymmetrical design! **Sold**

Denim Rose

This bangle was made using spiral herringbone in different sizes of beads, 11 delicas to 8 seed beads around a memory-wire core. It doesn't need a clasp - just pop it on and go! The indigo matte beads in this set are reminiscent of denim and would be fun on a casual day. **SOLD**

Leaf Set

I love the colors in this set! The triangles the entire set are made with sparkle and refract the light - at different angles you see a hint of a different color. The openwork style was refreshing and very elegant and feminine. I call this the Leaf Set because it reminds me of a stylized leaf that you might find in a stained-glass window. The french ear wires are gold-plated, and the bracelet has a cloisonne button-loop closure. **AVAILABLE**

Cellini Spiral Set

This one started out as a bracelet! I was learning the Cellini Spiral, but found that with the beads I chose it was not supple enough for a bracelet - and this pendant was born! The necklace was strung in a "floating" style, which means that the elements are pulled down toward the pendant by gravity when worn. I added a close-up of the pendant so you could see a little more detail. I love purple and gold together and the difference in size and texture of the beads used makes the texture of this pendant very sculptural. An attention getter anytime! **SOLD**

Antique Rose Set

This 22-inch necklace was worked from the middle, starting with the open-work double helix. From there it evolved into a herringbone twist. The earrings are also a type of spiral with swarovski crystals at the bottom. (The earrings look much better when worn - laying down doesn't do them justice!) The bracelet has a snap closure and contains seed-beads, pearls, and crystals randomly embelishing the surface. The earring kidney wire and the clasp for the necklace have silver-plating for those who are sensitive to other metals. Because I used hex-beads for this, it reflects a lot of light, and is very fancy! **AVAILABLE**
